All data is stored by a 256 bit encryption according to AES in CFB mode. The integrated high-speed AES hardware-based encryption module operates independently of any software and is resistant to cold boot and similar attacks.

Besides, you receive with the Acronis True Image Quick Backup software all necessary extras which you need to the restoration of a computer system in the disaster case. If mistakes appear which block an access to information or influence the operating system, you can simply restore the system and lost data.

The authentication works by password entry.


To increase the safety of the USS256 it has a kind of self-destruction mechanism. If an unauthorized access occurs and a preset number of failed attempts of password entries is reached, the data stored on the stick will be destroyed. The epoxy coating protects the hardware from manipulation and moisture.

The formatting software provides the possibility to create a protected and a public partition and to adjust the sizes of these.


It is possible to determine the number of failed attempts of password entries to avoid unauthorized access to the USB Security Stick. You can choose user password and administrator password. If the preset number of failed attempts of user password entries is exceeded, it is still possible to enter the administrator password to get access to the data.

If the administrator password was entered 3 times wrongly, the stick will be blocked automatically and the data stored on the device will be deleted.

The USS256 can be reset to factory setting and be used again (there will be no more data on the stick). An additional feature is the automatically sign off function. The USS256 is be able to log off from the system,if it is inactive. The time interval for this function can be chosen freely or can be deactivated by the user.
